Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 2 Guys Ducting actually do

We design and install high efficiency heating and cooling systems for homes and light commercial buildings. Our specialties include geothermal heating and cooling, cold climate air source heat pumps (ducted and ductless), custom sheet metal ductwork, and air to water heat pump systems. We work on new construction and retrofit projects and we help clients understand rebates and incentives that can reduce out of pocket costs.

  • Do you install geothermal systems

Yes. Geothermal is one of our core specialties. We handle system design, loop field coordination, equipment installation, and ducting or radiant distribution. Geothermal offers extremely low operating costs, long system life, quiet operation, and stable performance in cold climates. If you are building a new home or doing a major renovation, geothermal is worth a serious look.

  • Do cold climate air source heat pumps work in the Northeast

Yes, when they are designed and installed correctly. Modern cold climate heat pumps can heat well below zero, but the details matter. Proper load calculations, correct equipment sizing, and properly designed ductwork are what make heat pumps comfortable, efficient, and reliable. We install both ductless and ducted systems depending on the home and goals.

  • What makes your ductwork different

Most duct systems are treated like an afterthought. We fabricate and install custom sheet metal ductwork designed for proper airflow, quiet operation, and consistent temperatures so your system actually performs the way it was intended.

Many HVAC companies do not fabricate or install their own ductwork and instead subcontract that portion of the job to another contractor. When that happens, there is typically an added markup because multiple companies are involved. That added layer can increase cost and reduce quality control.

At 2 Guys Ducting, we fabricate and install our own ductwork for our customers. This allows us to control quality, design systems correctly, and keep costs more competitive because everything is handled directly by us. We also fabricate and install ductwork for other contractors and builders who need a reliable ducting partner. When comparing companies, it is always worth asking whether they handle their own ductwork or subcontract it, because that can directly impact cost, quality, and system performance.

Heating and Cooling  Incentives by State

Quick Comparison at a Glance (Residential)

Rebates vary by utility and project qualification. We verify all incentives before quoting.

Massachusetts

Air Source Heat Pump Rebates (Ducted and Ductless)
Up to 10,000 for whole home systems through Mass Save. Partial home rebates are available depending on heating coverage and system design.

Geothermal Heat Pump Rebates
Typically 15,000 or more depending on system size and design through Mass Save.

0 Percent Financing
Mass Save HEAT Loan offers zero percent interest financing for qualifying systems.

Vermont

Air Source Heat Pump Rebates (Ducted and Ductless)
Ductless systems typically 400 to 1,200 per indoor unit.
Ducted systems commonly 1,500 to 3,000 or more depending on utility and income tier. Vermont currently offers some of the strongest electrification incentives in New England.

Geothermal Heat Pump Rebates
Typically 3,000 to 5,000 or more depending on system type, tonnage and utility program.

0 Percent Financing
Vermont Home Energy Loan offers zero percent financing for income qualified homeowners.

Maine

Air Source Heat Pump Rebates (Ducted and Ductless)
Ductless systems commonly 1,200 to 2,400 per indoor unit.
Whole home ducted systems can range 3,000 to 8,000 or more depending on income tier and program eligibility

Geothermal Heat Pump Rebates
Approximately 3,000 for qualifying geothermal systems through Efficiency Maine

Financing
Low interest and program based financing options available through Efficiency Maine partners

New Hampshire

Air Source Heat Pump Rebates (Ducted and Ductless)
Typically 500 to 1,250 per ton depending on utility and whether the system replaces fossil fuel heating

Geothermal Heat Pump Rebates
Limited direct geothermal rebates. Utility based incentives may apply depending on project

Financing
Some utilities and co ops offer zero percent or on bill financing for qualifying energy upgrades

Important  Federal Note

As of January 1, 2026, residential federal tax credits for heat pump systems are no longer available.
